Nominated for the Green Award, a category of the BBC Radio Leeds ‘Make A Difference Awards’, by Jo Moseley, a paddle boarder she met whilst giving a talk at Alpkit about The Ilkley Clean River Group for her role in setting up the Group and all they’ve done since as a group, specifically the Bathing Water Designation and securing over £60m worth of investment in the Sewage infrastructure at Ilkley to clean up the Wharfe. Credit was also given to her involvement in setting up the Crowdfunder for the Weston Woods Community Buyout raising over £140k to buy 20 acres of Woodland on the outskirts of Otley’s Weston Estate this year.
Karen is a front runner (in the top four) of over 500 nominees and will attend a formal awards ceremony at the Royal Armouries in Leeds on 30th September. We fully support her and wish her success in receiving recognition for her initiative and many achievements with the group and beyond.
